Diana Carolina Sanmiguel, LMHC
License Mental Health Counseling
Diana is a LMHC with the state of Florida and received her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling locally from Hodges University. Her counseling experience ranges from working with children, teenagers, adults, and our local geriatric population. Her therapeutic approach emphasizes tailoring evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well mindfulness-based interventions and education to fit the client’s unique individual needs and maximize the effectiveness of psychotherapy. These methods of intervention apply to a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and relationship and health problems. She considers that therapy should be a warm and non-judgmental experience in which each client defines their path to healing, and achieves a greater insight into their life.
Early in her career, Ms. Sanmiguel spent time as the Program Coordinator for Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice Anti-Human Trafficking Victims Assistance Program by proving intensive case management to victims of Human Trafficking. She also had the pleasure of providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and families in a shelter setting a well as community referred clients at Youth Haven in Naples, Fl. This allowed her the opportunity to learn and utilize Play Therapy techniques, which are applied particularly when working with younger children who are still learning an emotional vocabulary. She is a native of Colombia and provides services to those clients preferring support in Spanish.
